On June 23 1894, the International Olympic Committee was created. This year, Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee presented a series of Move, Learn and Discover events to commemorate the 125th Olympic Day celebration, combing a 3km Olympic Day Fun Run, Olympic Protocol workshops, “My Olympic Story” seminars and Archery Discovery activities by Team TPE Olympians. More than 1,000 sport enthusiasts participated in the month-long celebration in Taipei City and National Taiwan Sport University.

The June celebration kicked off with the opening of an Olympic Day banner displayed at the Sport Joint Office Tower, home to dozens of Chinese Taipei sports federations in Taiwan. On June 14 and 15, representatives from Chinese Taipei NFs and sport enthusiasts participated in the Olympic Protocol workshops as well as “My Olympic Story” seminars with Seoul 1988 & Barcelona 1992 Taekwondo gold medalist, Ms. CHEN, Yi-An and London 2012 marathon runner, Mr. CHANG Chia-Che OLY. The two Olympians shared their Olympic stories and the lasting influences that make them who they are today.

And on June 23, hundreds turned up in Olympic Day t-shirts at National Taiwan Sport University for the 3km Olympic Day fun run cohosted by Chinese Taipei NOC and the Olympian Association. They ran along the hilly course to warm up for team Chinese Taipei and also for the draw to win a souvenir event fan. In his opening remarks, Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee (CTOC) President Mr. Hong-Dow Lin, pointed out that the 2019 Olympic Day celebration coincides with Enterprise Archery League competition. Crowds have the opportunity to witness world class archery skills and enjoy first-hand archer experience. He declared: “We have 6 already obtained spots in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and we look forward to our archers’ exceptional performance.”
